Born in New York (1923), the Russian-Jewish family in the Bronx school wwdp worked at the school newspaper. After briefly wwdp studying at Columbia University he went to the U.S. Navy where trade begins career as a photographer, and three years later began working as a fashion photographer in "Harper's Bazaar".
From 1966 leaves "Harper's Bazaar" and translates into competitive "Vogue," which remains the site of a major photographer, working all front pages from 1973 until 1988, when the editor of "Vogue" Anna Wintour it. Fashion photography by Richard Avedon in this period covers the Versace campaign, Klein, Revlon. Besides Avedon fashion photography in that time period were given to photos that show a strong social and political movements in the world, taking photographs of patients in mental hospitals, the Movement for Human Rights in 1963, protests against the Vietnam War, and later the fall of the Berlin wall. During this period Avedon made two famous sets of portraits photos of the Beatles.
This specific Portrait Gallery displays writers who photographed from 1950 to 1970. The photographs are distinctive in style Avedon: wwdp minimalist, but very powerful and authoritative. We addressed a lot of attention to the technical details, the resolution of the images is impressive, see every detail, every wrinkle, every pore on his face.

Avedon knew how to capture one true moment, that intimacy, the unknown nature. He worked mostly in his studio on East Side of Manhattan - in a space that would allow them to control all elements of photography and the models gave them complete freedom and spontaneity.
Richard Avedon died on October 1, 2004 in Texas, during the filming of "New York Times". wwdp Behind him left his son and four grandchildren. The text "New York Times" published on the occasion of his death, said that "his fashion and portretski wwdp photographs helped set the American image of style, beauty and culture in the second half of the century."
